Ever since I can remember, I’ve always loved to do my own thing and I’ve always kind of struggled to abide to rules and being told what to do.
I think the idea of being my own boss and deciding my own hours is something that has always appealed to me. At the age of thirteen, I went on a dress-making course where I learnt the basics of dressmaking and I began to make my own beach wear using a variety of fabrics and selling it online. I then started making my own jewelry where I would sit patiently with my hot glue gun and old broken off gems and stones where I would make rings and earrings. I still have the burn marks to prove it!
At the age of 15 I started customizing denim shorts where my sister and I would search through thrift stores and pick out old vintage Levis, we would then cut and fray them. Then dye them all kinds of crazy colors such as blue, green, purple, pink and we would then add studs to them. All my life I’ve seemed to be known as the money maker by family and friends as I wouldn’t stop creating something until I could sell it.
Right now I’m balancing school, working in a clothes store and trying to find my next path in my career. Being my own boss is definitely the route I want to follow, I’m so glad for this opportunity to be a Boss Babe Blogger and I look forward to what’s to come for all of the powerful women who follow this page.
